Things Are Starting to Fall into Place

This morning, Kent and I finally met with Howard A, the 30-something head pastor of Mensaje de Vida church where we will be doing most of our work here. He picked us up from our apartment around 9:30 and took us to a local restaurant called Mais for coffee and breakfast - Kent was VERY happy to have a good cup of coffee again :).

We spoke with Howard for about 2 hours about what we envision ourselves doing here and his own thoughts about what we'll be doing here. We basically figured out that Kent will be preaching this Sunday and next Sunday, participating in a series on worship (his mind is already working on a sermon dealing with Ezekiel and the beauty of God...). We will also be working with the 3 worship teams here to help train them on more specifics on how to lead worship (musically, theologically, etc). We are both VERY excited about this - and those of you who know us well will understand our excitement. Kent and I are starting to see more clearly the reasons why we are here in Guatemala...it is very exciting!

As for now, Kent will be working on this Sunday's sermon for the rest of the week and I will have a chance to start digging into my curriculum planning for this coming August. Please pray for Kent as he writes this sermon (a translator will be there on Sunday to translate for him) as he just found out about this today - pray for wisdom, discernment and for some way to connect his sermon to the culture and community here in Guatemala City. Pray that I will be able to get a good chunk of my curriculum planning out of the way so I will have more peace about this coming fall...oh, and also pray for continued health and strength. We are blessed to not have gotten sick yet!

Thank you all for your continued love and support. We love and miss you all!
