Good to be Back
After a very long week before Christmas break with students bouncing off the walls, Kent and I finally made our way back to Michigan to spend Christmas with my family. It was and still is SOOO good to see them and hug them and talk with them in person. Some of the highlights of this trip so far:
- Seeing my dad, Sonny, Faith, Bella and my mom waiting for me at the airport and getting big hugs from each one of them
- Seeing my 2 mo. old nephew, Blake, for the first time (he's so beautiful!)
- Blake's smiles and giggles :)
- Faith: "Aunt Shelly, I'm so glad you're home."
- Seeing Faith (5), Bella (2) and Jared (4) again - hugging them and wrestling with them and reading books with them
- Not having to do any lesson planning or grading :)
- Staying up late to talk with my sister
- Watching the kids open up their presents with a LOT of excitement!
- Waking up and hearing: "Hi, Aunt Shelly!!"
- Hearing Bella say: "Swiper - that sneaky fox!"
There are lots more...but basically, it's really good to be back. I have always loved my family and knew that they meant a lot to me, but the distance that we've had over the past 4 months has really made me be thankful for the time I do get to spend with them and to not take it for granted because it is a gift.

It was good to see you, Shelly. Sorry we didn't get to spend much time together. Christmas is such a busy time of year.
It was great to see you, too. Don't worry...Christmas IS a busy time of year...but we're coming back the last week in February, so maybe we can catch up more then.
